At Home with House Inhabit

You’re probably already familiar with Jessica Reed Kraus—the voice behind the #1 Culture Substack, House Inhabit. Known for her sharp critiques of American politics, unflinching takes on pop culture, and unapologetic gossip, Jessica isn’t afraid to describe exactly what she sees (not what people want her to see). A Scorpio mama of four, she’s built her platform by combining a relentless pursuit of truth with a uniquely flexible narrative style.

What you might not know is that Jessica has been a passionate supporter of THE FULLEST from the very beginning. Today, we’re lucky enough to sit down with her for a candid conversation. Always evolving, always questioning, Jessica keeps us on our toes, offering new perspectives with each piece she writes.

In this Q&A, we dive into the mind of one of our favorite (and often controversial) writers. Read on to learn more about what drives her, her approach to writing, and why she’s never afraid to challenge the status quo.

Q: Where do you draw the most inspiration for your writing and creative endeavors?

A: People. I love people—of all kinds. Typically, I’m drawn to scandals and tales about the underdog. I like controversial characters and learning about anyone who goes against the grain and is bold in their positions.

Q: Your storytelling feels deeply authentic and personal. How do you maintain authenticity in your work while balancing public and private life?

A: I guess I just accept that this is my preferred style of storytelling. I’ve always included personal aspects in what I share online, so I never thought to change that—even when I shifted into news and culture. I like sharing my friends and family on my platforms. I think they add an intimate and relatable element.

Q: What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced while striving to live your most authentic life, and how have you overcome them?

A: Because my family is a part of what I do and share, the biggest challenge is not letting negativity and hate online get the best of me. The internet can be a vile and vicious place. As a mother, it’s hard not to get riled up when the lies and attacks become personal.

Q: What advice would you give to moms who don’t work but are looking to engage with a larger community online? How can they find their voice and connect meaningfully in the digital space?

A: I think we’re at a point where people are over artifice. Generally, I sense that people online want to learn and are drawn to anyone willing to teach them something. And as generic as it sounds, being true to yourself—your voice and vision—attracts the right following.

Q: How do you see the future of digital media unfolding, and what role will citizen journalism play in the future of media as a whole?

A: If things keep going the way they are, citizen journalism will supersede mainstream networks and news outlets. For someone in my position, it feels like exciting times are ahead. There’s a craving for alternative news sources, driven by a jaded distrust in mainstream media propagating lies for decades to keep us dumb and divided. I feel like all of that is about to change. We’re on the precipice of a great awakening. Hopefully, with that comes a boom in creativity.

Q: What’s your most ideal Sunday morning?

A: Sleeping in and reading or writing in bed with coffee until lunch.

Q: What book are you reading right now, and what are other things you like to do to keep you in a flow state outside of reading and writing?

A: I’m currently reading Righteous Indignation by Andrew Breitbart. His writing inspires me greatly—his political rants are fiery, practical, and poetic. I read him and play him on audio; he keeps me fired up.

Q: As a fan of THE FULLEST’s saffron products, how have they influenced your self-care rituals or approach to wellness?

A: I love the Kinder Thoughts® saffron capsules—two daily in the morning—which have helped tremendously with my migraines. And a hot Warm Feelings® saffron latte in the late afternoon is a comforting mid-day treat. It’s the perfect excuse to pause amid daily chaos.

Q: What is your word for 2025?

A: Relentless
