Now, back to her smoothie. Made with green apples, it fills my heart with nostalgia as it was my favorite snack as a little girl, and during my current pregnancy, I’ve been craving apples (and childhood memories) again. This time, I’m also adding lime juice to the mix and it pairs perfectly with the creaminess of the avocado, the sweetness of the apples, and the spiciness of the cayenne. Cayenne might sound intense in a smoothie to some — but it’s truly the perfect morning pick me up! Mix and match your own ingredients from this versatile and nourishing recipe.
1 organic Granny Smith apple, unpeeled, cut into quarters then cored
4 or 5 organic celery stalks with leaves, ends and tips removed
1 whole lemon or lime, peeled, and seeds removed (as best as you can)
1 organic avocado, peeled, and coarsely chopped
½ bunch cilantro, stems removed
¼ teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
2 cups spring water
1 cup ice
Place ingredients in blender. Blend on high & enjoy!
