Shilajit, aka the “Destroyer of Weakness,” is an Ayurvedic herb found mostly in the Himalayan and Tibet mountains. It’s said that shilajit is the byproduct of organic matter being trapped for millions of years in between layers of mountain rock. Throughout time, the Earth’s seismic shifts caused minerals to be compounded within the shilajit, expelling through the crevices of the mountain as a black tar. It has documented usage of being a rejuvenating herb for over 5,000 years. Despite its folkloric history, its official origin and actual classification has yet to be confirmed.

Amongst its dense mineral and nutritional profile, the most notable property of shilajit is likely its high fulvic acid content (50-60%). Fulvic acid has been known to improve gut health, immune function, nutrient absorption, cognitive health and detoxification.

There are different grades of shilajit on the market, so you have to be careful when purchasing. Only get shilajit from distributors that have an up-to-date Certificate of Analysis, as poorly sourced shilajit can be contaminated with heavy metals. We only use Lotus Blooming Herbs Shilajit, the highest grade shilajit available, personally sourced by the owner from the indigenous people who’ve been harvesting it for centuries (from altitudes between 16,000 and 18,000 feet).
