AGENCY

An agent or agency is basically another person or business that is there to help. And while we sometimes struggle to lean on others, when we get over our egos and actually ask for a helping hand (or lend one) the benefits are profound. In fact, people that are the happiest and live the longest have surrounded themselves in a community where everyone is willing to help each other. Clearly, there’s a whole lotta truth to the phrase “It takes a village.” This week, we’re talking to some epic agents of change from academia and wellness to music and entrepreneurship. Join us as we get by with a little help from our friends.

BE SELECTIVE

You’ll take the BLT. Hold the bacon, aioli on the side, and can you please swap the bun for a lettuce wrap? You’ve been on all the dating apps for over a year and only swiped right four times. Recruiters are knocking at your door and sure, the pay is great, but digital marketing just isn’t for you. You’re selective -- and that’s okay! Being choosy is a good thing. You’re not afraid to ask for what you want and you’re happy as a clam waiting until the right opportunity comes along. As women, we often compromise out of a fear of letting people down, being alone, or because we sell ourselves short. But no more! This week it’s time to stay patient and BE SELECTIVE.

BLINDNESS + JUSTIFICATION

This week, we’re leaving behind the notion of right and wrong and embracing different rights. Ignorance is not bliss. Joy is found in accepting all truths. It doesn’t mean we have to agree with Trump’s views on immigration, but we’re trying to understand. That’s right, we’re not judging you Donald! We’re not cherry-picking facts that justify our choices, or avoiding what the situation requires. We’re listening to opinions we’d once dismissed, loving what we don’t understand, and making room in our hearts and heads for many sides of the story.

CONSISTENCY WITHOUT RIGIDITY

This week, we’re all about consistency and advocating the middle ground. We’re about saying goodbye to the “all or nothing” mentality because, let’s be real, we’ve all been there. Extremism comes in all shapes and sizes from overworking to party overload to spirituality. To avoid obsessiveness or addiction it’s important we adopt a balanced outlook to life. Sometimes you gotta break your own rules, live a little, and go with the flow. Even if that means partaking in the occasional organic, grass-fed, and sustainably raised filet mignon.
